Retype or re-pick, leave the field so it commits, and compare the result with a fresh week count. If the date will not stick, follow a short sequence that forces a new run on the weeks from today calculator.

Visible text and submitted value can diverge

You open the picker, scroll from 12 March to 19 March, and see 19 March written in the box. The result below still matches 12 March plus your week count. The display updated optimistically, or updated only the text node, and the change event that the calculator listens for never fired. This is maddening because the screen looks finished. The result is not “stuck in the past” as a philosophy. It is consistent with an old value. Treat the result as a witness. If it did not move, the input did not commit, no matter what the box claims.

A quick tell: change the week count by one and see whether the result moves by exactly seven days from the old result. If it does, the anchor is still the old anchor. The week field is alive and the date field is not. Changing weeks will not repair the date. It only proves which input the page believes.

Typing over a picker value leaves a hybrid

Some browsers let you type into a date field that also has a calendar button. You overwrite the day digits and leave the month as the picker last set, or you type a slash-formatted string the control only half accepts. The visible string looks like 19 March and the parsed value stays empty or stays previous. An empty parse often falls back to today, which is a third date, neither the one you wanted nor the one you started from. Now the result moved, so you trust it, and it moved to the wrong place.

Prefer one method per attempt. Either use the picker and do not type, or clear the field completely and type a full unambiguous date if the control allows typing at all. Afterward, do not assume. Read the result’s weekday against the weekday of the date you think you set. Thursday plus whole weeks is Thursday. If you wanted Thursday, 19 March 2026, and the result is a Friday, the committed anchor was not that Thursday.

Phones often commit on blur, not on scroll

On a phone, spinning the wheel does not always write the value until you tap Done or tap outside the control. If you spin to the right day and then immediately tap the week field, you may have dismissed the wheel with a cancel, restoring the previous day while your eyes still remember the day you spun to. It feels like the picker “jumped back.” It often jumped back because the dismiss button you hit was the one that discards.

Watch the field after the wheel closes, before you touch anything else. If it reverted, open it again and use the confirm control, not the area outside the popover. Then change the week count last, so the date commit has already happened. Doing date last is also fine if you pause to read it. Doing both at once, with the wheel still open, is the race you keep losing.

Reload is a reset, not a refresh of your inputs

Pull-to-refresh and the reload button rebuild the page. Defaults return. Today creeps back into the anchor. The week count returns to blank or to a remembered value that may be someone else’s. You have not “refreshed the result.” You have thrown away the attempt. Reload only when the control is truly wedged, and budget a full re-entry afterward. A reload that you follow by hitting calculate without looking will publish today’s date plus a stale count. That is a new wrong answer with a clean conscience.

If the page keeps a previous result on screen across reloads, do not treat that leftover as confirmation. Change the week count to a number you have never used on this device, such as 3, and see whether the result matches three weeks after the anchor you just re-entered. A leftover that does not change is not connected to the button you are pressing. Try the sequence below before you try a third browser out of frustration.

A sequence that makes the page show a new date

One, write the anchor and the count on paper: “Thu 19 Mar 2026, 4 weeks,” expecting Thursday, 16 April 2026. Two, reload once so you are not fighting a half-updated control. Three, set the week count to 4 and tab out of that field. Four, open the date control, choose 19 March 2026, confirm it, and read the box. Five, press the calculate control if the page has one, or tab away if it calculates on change. Six, compare the screen with 16 April 2026. If you see that Thursday, you are done. Copy it immediately.

If you see a different date, change only the week count from 4 to 5. The result should move by exactly seven days, to Thursday, 23 April 2026, if the anchor stuck. If it moves by seven from some other base, the anchor is that other base. If it does not move, the button is not bound to the fields you are editing. Then try another browser or the desktop site. Do not keep tapping the same dead control and averaging the dates it used to show.

When the new result equals the old one, inspect the inputs again

Sometimes the committed values really are the old ones, and the correct behavior is an unchanged result. Adding four weeks to 19 March when you had already added four weeks to 19 March should not produce a new day. The bug is only a bug when you intended a different input. Read both fields after the attempt, not from memory of what you scrolled. Then run the paper expectation on the homepage in a desktop window if the phone will not commit. Matching the paper date means the arithmetic is fine and the picker was the whole fault. You can return to the phone later. The deadline does not have to wait for the wheel to behave.

[5

post-56","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-troubleshooting-tips
["GET
